Somewhat predictable, this touching who-dun-it that has plenty of suspenseful twists for Crime Junkies.

I'm a @crimejunkiepodcast fan and couldn't pass up the chance to read a novel written by one of my favorite podcasters, Ashley Flowers (@ashleyflowers) If you haven't checked out Crime Junkie, you're missing out! While you're at it, look up all of the podcasts under her @audiochuck production company. She's a dynamo!

All Good People Here by Ashley Flowers is about Margot, a down-but-not-out journalist that has returned to her small town to write about a recent murder of a child that is eerily similar to the case of a murder of her childhood friend. Margot is hardworking, resilient, and intelligent-- I loved her!

I can't confirm this but I saw the parallels to the famous Jon Benet Ramsey case within the story and if it was done on purpose, I honestly wouldn't be surprised. It would make perfect sense if Ashley may have drawn on multiple real true crime cases she's covered over the years in her podcasts for inspiration, which made this book more exciting to read. Her characters are relatable and are the kind that a small city girl like myself can picture easily -- chisme is as good as the tamales we make in my Texas bordertown. Luke, our protagonist's uncle, suffers from dementia, a condition I am all too familiar with. (RIP "Welita" Mela🕊️) I truly appreciate the care she too conveys the guilt, financial difficulties, and fear that comes with caring for someone battling dementia and eventually at times, Alzheimer's. This whodunit has many twists and has some suspenseful moments. The red herrings were a bit too obvious for me but it kept me engaged! You'll enjoy this quick read!
